AGY is a rural housing scheme under Govt. of Odisha for providing pucca ( permanent) houses to houseless individuals.The beneficiary who happens to be a poor widow has completed the construction of the house on time. As per the provision of the above scheme, the beneficiary is entitled to get a bonus along with the final instalment. But, accused PEO Sri Nath demanded bribe Rs.10,000\/- from the beneficiary to release the final instalment and bonus amount in her favour. When the beneficiary expressed her inability to pay the demanded bribe Rs 10,000\/-, accused PEO Sri Nath reduced the bribe amount to Rs.5,000\/-. Sri Nath also threatened the beneficiary unless the bribe money was paid to him, he would not release the final instalment and the bonus money in her favour. Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, beneficiary(Complainant) alleged before the vigilance authorities narrating harassment by the accused PEO Sri Nath.On this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Nath, PEO while taking bribe Rs. 5,000\/- from the complt. *The entire bribe money Rs.5,000\/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Nath and seized*.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Sri Nath, PEO from DA angle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this connection, KATAKA Vigilance PS case Case no 26\/2026, U\/s7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Nath, PEO.
