Odisha Gets New Governor as Braj Mohan Ram Takes Oath

Bhubaneswar: Braj Mohan Ram on Sunday took oath as the new Governor of Odisha at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar, formally assuming office as the constitutional head of the State. Orissa High Court Chief Justice Harish Tandon administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ram at the newly inaugurated Abhishek Hall in the presence of senior government officials and other dignitaries.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, several ministers, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, the Commissioner of Police for the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack twin cities and other distinguished guests attended the swearing-in ceremony. Following the oath-taking, the new Governor inspected a guard of honour presented by security personnel, marking the formal commencement of his tenure.
Ahead of his swearing-in, Ram visited the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday along with his mother and wife to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath. The visit came a day before he assumed constitutional responsibilities in Odisha, a State known for its rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted religious traditions.
Speaking to the media after offering prayers, Ram said he had prayed for peace and prosperity for everyone and for the progress of Odisha. He said he wanted to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath before taking the oath as Governor. His remarks reflected his stated hopes for the well-being of the people and the development of the State.
Before assuming office, Ram had also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Odisha, describing it as the land of Lord Jagannath. He conveyed his commitment to working for the State’s progress and the welfare of its people.
As Governor, Ram assumes a constitutional role in the administration of Odisha, with responsibilities defined by the Constitution of India. His assumption of office comes as the State government continues to pursue its development priorities across sectors, including infrastructure, public services and social welfare. The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of his tenure as the State’s constitutional head.
